Signs of Spring
The joys I once shared while coloring Easter eggs with my sister, brothers, and cousin are now wonderful memories. Like the time one of my brothers took so long to decorate his egg with wax. My brother tenderly placed the highly-decorated egg gently into the food coloring. He sat patiently watching the egg as it became a beautiful shade of blue. When it was time, he gently picked up the egg and cradled it in a napkin to dry. Laughter erupted as we heard a crushing sound fill the room. He applied a bit too much pressure, crushing the egg in his hands. We, of course, remind him of the accident every Easter.
I now celebrate the season by coloring eggs with my nieces. I watch their young faces as I mix food dyes to create custom colors for the egg dyes. Their eyes light up when they see the colors change as they are mixed. Ever the artist, I use this time to teach them about color. It’s how my mom taught me.
Another sign of spring is the white canvas sneakers that are now appearing in department stores. These shoes just beg to be embellished and you can have your little artist help you with this design.
The sneakers are super easy to embellish with Tulip® Fabric Markers™ by ILoveToCreate™. Add a decorative bow, and you have a great Easter Treat for your little girl. Make sure to place Aleene’s® Stop Fraying™ on the ends of the ribbon.
